The 'FaceOff' competition

Simona and I, had the opportunity to participate together as a team at the FaceOff competition, hosted by Kat in our Uni. We had to choose between SFX and Beauty to create a villain Disney character (makeup and hairstyle). Simona and I chose Beauty category (because we're first years).
The ideas and face chart

After a little research, we decided to create our version of Evil Queen from Snow White. We searched on Pinterest and YouTube for some inspiration then we started to create our face chart.

Inspired from:

The makeup was sorted, but how about the hairstyle? We couldn't choose a proper hairstyle, because our character didn't have one. We discussed to paint the hair and a little bit of forehead, in order to achieve the Evil Queen's exact look.

Accessories

Because the Evil Queen considered herself beautiful and she was always looking in the mirror, Simona and I decided to create a crown made from broken mirror and a collar made from black paper with little pieces of mirror attached on it.

First practice
After one day, we picked a model, our classmate, Lauren and she was happy to help us. We practised our first ideas, but we were not that happy, because it looked more like Black Swan. LOL.
Nope. Absolutely not. We rescheduled another session of practice though.

Step-by-step makeup

-After washing our hands, obviously, we start preparing our model’s face by cleansing, toning and moisturizing it.
-Then, using a spatula and wax for special effects, we cover the ending parts of the eyebrows.
-After that, we apply foundation all over the face, using a big flat brush and a BeautyBlender.
-We highlight the T-zone with white foundation (Illamasqua) and set everything with loose powder.
-While I’ll be contouring the cheek bones, forehead and chin with black and purple blusher, Simona-my partner, will start doing the eyes.
-Then, using black face paint, I will start contouring the face, as it looks like a heart shape. I will apply the face paint as well on the ears and neck.
-For the hair, I will fix it in a tale, and then I’ll apply the same face paint on half of it, to create the illusion of a canvas and then, I’ll spread black and silver glitter all over it.
-Moving on the lips, either me or Simona, will contour them with black (from Supra Color) and create and ombre with purple (Supra Color), then setting them with purple and silver glitter.
-In the inner corners, Simona will apply silver jems, in the outer corners black, silver and purple ones, and all around the ears, purple ones.
-For the final look, we will fix a big black collar around the neck.

Second Practise

This one went better. Unfortunately, our model got sick, so we had to pick another one. We divided our tasks: Simona did the eyes (because they had to look similar) and I did the hair, face, lips and contour.

The competition day and final result
The fact that we were the only first years made us a bit anxious, but willing to win. In two hours, we had to create our own version of Evil Queen and we successfully managed to do it.

We were so pleased by the result and it was an amazing experience that ended up with the RUNNER UP PLACE. We were congratulated by the jury and everyone appreciated our work.
Great experience to work with these! We're really excited for the next competitions!
